Artur Sukhoiarskyi
Independent researcher · Visual communication
Independent researcher of visual communication, migration, and social recognition. Studies cultural identity, visual storytelling, digital platforms, and trust in visual evidence.
Biography and professional background
Artur Sukhoiarskyi is an independent researcher of visual communication, migration, and social recognition. He studies how photography, video, and digital platforms enable people to represent their experience, preserve cultural memory, and construct professional and social identity across transnational environments.
His professional preparation connects visual arts with cinema, photography, and video. After studying at Vatutine Children’s School of Arts, he attended Kaniv College of Culture and Arts of Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University from 2011 to 2014. His junior-specialist qualification covers the organization of cultural and leisure activities and the leadership of a cinema, photography, and video studio.
A separate strand of his work concerns media education, original online courses, and teaching methods in visual communication, documentary storytelling, and digital media production. This activity received a certificate of merit and a letter of appreciation from the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine in 2021.
His research portfolio comprises five articles on cultural identity in migrant communities, visual storytelling, changing creative professions, communication in crises, and distributed authority in visual evidence. A joint manuscript with Maryna Lysenko develops these questions through the concept of a visual economy of identity.
Research focus
Visual media and cultural identity
Photography, video, and digital self-representation as means of preserving memory, maintaining cultural connections, and negotiating belonging. Particular attention is given to migrant communities and identities formed across languages, societies, and institutional systems.
Visual storytelling and social integration
The ability to create and circulate one’s own narrative. Sequence, context, and biographical continuity are examined as conditions through which public visibility can develop into meaningful social recognition.
Creative professions and professional recognition
The changing roles of photographers, videographers, and other creators under global mobility. The analysis connects artistic practice, communication, the social position of the creator, and the ability to make professional experience intelligible outside established institutional settings.
Crisis communication and documentary evidence
How image selection, editing, emotional emphasis, and context influence public understanding of crises. The focus includes accuracy, documentary value, and responsibility toward the people whose lives become the subject of visual narratives.
Digital platforms, trust, and distributed authority
The conditions under which material produced by independent creators becomes credible and socially consequential. The research connects algorithmic visibility with source verification, comparison of evidence, and unequal access to audience attention.
